J. S. WILLIS CEMETERY
Documented October 21, 2005 by Irene Gotte, Lois Wallace, and Deana Whitner.
(Note: Jim Wallace also provided us with an update on Nov. 12, 2005, of the data previously recorded by Jesse Stewart in 1981.)

Directions to cemetery: Follow the John Flannagan Dam Road (Rt. 739) to stop sign at Rt. 611, then a short turn left on Blowing Rock Road, then a right. You will see a sign with J.S. Willis Chapel.
(Not responsible for transcription errors.)
There are a lot of unmarked graves in this cemetery, and a big concrete stone on which the writing illegible.
According to an interview with Vicey Mullins Stewart, granddaughter of both Pound Sol and Thursey, conducted by Jesse Stewart on Nov. 12, 1980, Solomon Mullins "Pound Sol" is buried in this cemetery in an unmarked grave. (He was born in 1813, and died 24 Nov 1914.) And Thursey Wallace Mullins is also buried here in an umarked grave. (She was born 4 Jun 1835, and died 25 Apr 1882.)
One of the oldest marked graves in this cemetery is that of James Frank Wallace. He was born in 1833. Next in age would have been Johnathan S. Willis, who was born in 1859, then Delila Childress in 1866, and Jasper Mullins in 1866.
A list of Veterans is listed on a stone monument with the American flag. Their names are:
Willie Caudill
Leonard Mullins
Leonard Willis
Henry Ray Willis
Napoleon Willis
Cecil Hay
Beldon Burchett
Homer Willis
